Does not work!!

I have a maxed out brand new Mac Book Pro with retina. I also have a iMac that is 7 years old. It will run on the iMac but not on the brand new Mac Book Pro!! What in the world!! Tried some of the suggestions of turning off the auto graphics but that does not work. Really disappointed. Does anybody have any suggestions ?
