Call of Duty® App Reviews

This is a game I’d never played, so I wanted to try it out but it doesn’t offer as much as it should. The campaign(s) are too short, the graphics, while great for the time, do nothing for me now, and the gameplay is lackluster. The COD franchise didn’t find its feet until later in the series.

I would this five stars if the Multiplayer worked on my copy of the game. When I try to switch to the MP it just says I need an internet connection for a one time Multiplayer Authentication. This is one of the main reasons I got the game, not that the Campaign wasnt good, its just that I beat it in a day (on greenhorn which is the easiest mode but still). If this is fixed it would get five stars and I would be very happy.

The pictures make the graphics look better that they are. Im trying to find out if there is a way to get better graphics, if I do I would probally rate 5 stars.

It is nice to be able to play without putting wear and tear on my optical drive. But why does the multi-player mode say that the "CD key is in use"? Does the App Store have one CD key for everyone? Aspyr does not seem to get this. Their first response was the usual: delete preferences. And the same error occurs. I guess they really, really want you to buy the CD.....

this game is exactly like the original. if you love call of duty you will love this game. i bought it when it originally came out in the early 2000s and has taken my breath away ever since.

This game is just as good as any of the Call of Duty games if not better because of the great single player and amazing online multiplayer!!!

This game is alright, but MC Domintation is a much better first-person shooter with campaign and awesome online multiplayer. Check it out.

2011 Core i7 13" Macbook Pro. It Will not load Most Multiplayer games. When it does I Get a "Could Bot Load GFX" Error. If you are buying for offline play then this is what you are looking for.

This game is sooo amazing!!! I have MW2 and this game can match it in my perspective. The classics are still alive, and amazing. I hesitiated to buy the game because of the price, there is nothing to worry about. BEST GAME!!

One of my first game purchases when I got my first Intel OSX machine. Runs well on my Mac Mini 2011 quad core with Intel HD 3000 graphics. Purchased again on app store for the wonderful experience. No more media clutering up my house, updates thru the app store. Love it!

The campaign was fun. I had never played COD the original before, so that was nice. But I cant get multi-player to work. E-mail support with Aspyr was OK, but not great, and he just led me through all the stuff I already knew (repair permissions, make sure the entire folder is unlocked, open a port on the firewall, etc. etc.) after about a week of back-and-forth e-mails (never an offer to talk on the phone, so very slow in trying new things) I gave up. I would therefore say its overpriced. $10 for an older graphics campaign game, yes. $10 more for multi-player, but if no multiplayer, then you owe me $10 Aspyr! edit: running 2009 MBP with 2.16Ghz C2D, 8GB RAM, Snow Leopard, over Fios connection. No reason this shouldnt work.

it is pretty good,graphics are okay. i think this is worth 20 bucks. only problem:MP does not work.

I bought this game and it works ver smoothly! The graphics (if you crank them up) are surprizingly good! The multiplayer for this game is one of the best I have ever played in any game. However, there is something that continually irks me. I dont know whether it is this itunes version or just the Macs system, but I can NOT download any of the mods, maps, or weapons in the online mode. One time, and only once, it actually downloaded a minor scope mod from a server, so I know that getting mods, maps, etc. is possible, but why is it not possible all of the time? PLEASE someone answer me :/

I bought this game after I had COD4 on PC and this works even SMOOTHER. Looks great on my 27" iMac with no glitches or issues. Just DONE with PC as I am in the Mac family now and wont be looking back. While COD4 is one of the best games of all time, I look forward to working my way back up the COD ladder and starting with 1. Ill get COD2 then hope the others (Black Ops) make their way to an App. This game is very worth it for the price.

I have an older MacBook (Late-2008 Aluminum with 2.4GHz, 8Gb, 9400m+256mb shared). I expected this game to run well, but honestly I wasnt expecting how INCREDIBLY well. I have the game running on a secondary monitor at 1920x1080 FullHD, every setting is to maximum and it still has a 60fps frame-rate. Multiplayer is amazing and works well (multiplayer is actually embedded in the .app container and will launch from within the regular app). I had bought this game back when it came out for the PC and the campaign was VERY nice. Id like to see the expansion come out soon when that is possible, but for now I am very impressed. I am going to give CoD 2 a try, and from what my friend says about his Macs performance (similar machine) with CoD 4 I will really enjoy playing this series. CoD 3 did NOT come out for the PC or the Mac platform since it was console exclusive so dont feel like you are missing anything (the game was the worst in the series). At $19.99 its a bit pricey, $9.99 or even $14.99 would be a better price for an older game like this…but I really enjoy it and with the updated graphics and the ability to do widescreen resolutions might justify the premium price. 4 out of 5 only for the slightly steep price.

that was a very good job for you, try making world at war for 23 bucks or call of duty 3 for 21 bucks

Love the game play. Still like MoH too...but working with a team is more realistic.
